Kids were not feeling well so Kerrie and I decided to leave them at home for the night and head out for dinner to Nathalie’s Gourmet Studio, a proposed authentic French restaurant in Kuala Lumpur.
Nathalie’s Gourmet Studio provides French cooking lessons during the week and traditionally only open for lunch but has just recently started doing Saturday dinner. It is popular and so reservations are recommended.
The restaurant has great reviews but we were not that taken by it. Nice food and well presented but at MYR500 for the two of us we expected perfection as this is a very expensive meal for Kuala Lumpur.
I started with NZ Oysters – fresh and very nice but wrong cutlery was provided and using a full sized fork makes it difficult to extract the oyster.
I had lamb for main. The sauce was nice but the lamb was a over cooked and as a result tough. Kerrie has the fish with a seaweed butter. The fish itself did not appear to be very fresh and lacked flavour.
Dessert was great – see below.
Kerrie enjoying dessert – Orange Chocolate Cake which was a hard case chocolate case with orange sorbet over which was poured warm melted chocolate. It mixed with the sorbet to create a great dessert.
