Most of Sunday was spent commuting to Hong Kong. Our train arrived in Guangzhou around 9:30am (about an hour late) which meant that given the hour commute to the ferry we would not make the 10:30am ferry and had to wait until 1:30pm.
We had lunch near the ferry terminal which, given it was Sunday, gave us the experience to have Yum Cha in amongst a larger number of Chinese families.
The ferry ride was a few hours and so we arrived into Hong Kong late afternoon. Our hotel was great – The Salisbury YMCA. Great location at the end of Nathan Street opposite the Cultural Centre with great views of the harbour.
As the first night was under the tour we were just in a standard room but for the following nights we had booked a Harbour View Room – was great to go to sleep looking at the lights of Hong Kong Island across the Harbour.
That night we had one final meal with Tomic (our guide) our Tour Family. We said goodbye to Tomic but not out Tour Family as we were all straying in Hong Kong until Thursday and were still up for doing stuff together.
Just before 8pm we headed down to the water front to take in the Hong Kong Symphony of Lights.
