A pleasant Monday afternoon was spent exploring St Andrews and surrounding areas. It is a truly beautiful city integrated with the old buildings of St Andrews University plus the link Golf Courses it is famous for.

St Andrews University
The university is integrated with the town so as you walk around the town you are by default walking through parts of the university. Beautiful old stone buildings and architecture.
St Andrews Castle
St Andrews Castle – what a location right on the cliff edge gives a spectacular ruin as it crumbles into the sea. It dates back to 1189 – 1202 when Bishop Roger first built a castle. It went back and forth between the Scots and English during the Wars of Independence (1296 – 1357). It was rebuilt in 1550’s.
St Andrews Cathedral
St Andrews Cathedral was the foremost destination for pilgrims in medieval Scotland. The vaulted nave was 20m tall and 50m long.
