We certainly over indulged in St Andrews with all the great food…however I realise our problem of over indulgence is only going to continue as I write this entry in the High Lands and Aberlour, an area famous for whiskey and also more great food – Emily and I had the most tender deer steaks last night and are enjoying our Eggs Florentine this morning.
In St Andrews our day of indulgence started with the Fruit Farm and way too many strawberries.
A great lunch followed at Mitchell Deli where we ordered 3 sharing boards – Vegetarian, Deli and Artisan Bread. A great atmosphere and great food and we especially enjoyed the variety and quality of breads provided.
Jannettas Gelateria in St Andrews won Best Ice Cream Parlour in Scotland for 2014. As a result the queue for ice cream was very long but well worth the wait. We got ice creams and then enjoyed them as we strolled down the street to then visit St Andrews Cathedral.
Following Ice Cream what better but to head to the Old Course Hotel and have a drink in the bar while looking down at golfers on the Old Course. I had a half and half which is a pint of ale plus a dram of whiskey – very nice.
Dinner was fish and chips from Tailend down by the Sea Side – recommended by locals. Great fish and chips cooked in Beef Lard which made all the difference with the chips.
