Coffee and Blog Morning in Edinburgh

I have to take time out in writing my catch-up posts to reflect that I am currently sitting in a coffee shop in Edinburgh New Town, opposite our outstanding Guest House with a great view of Edinburgh Castle.

I have had my morning Beet Juice and now onto my 2nd Macchiato – the girls are all out shopping and so apart from them spending too much it cannot get much better.

We are staying at CastleView Guest House and it’s family room is outstanding – plenty of room and great view.  Breakfast is not as good as what we got in the rural places but still OK.  A lot of steps as it is a heritage building so they cannot put in a lift – it is the house where Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932), author of “The Wind in the Willows”, was born.

One key trick to mention is that we pre-booked the car into NCP Parking. This was the best value for money as you do not need a car in Edinburgh and few hotels have parking.
