It has been over 30 years since I last went to the MCG with dad to watch a Cricket Game and what a game as the Aussie’s demolished New Zealand in the 2015 Cricket World Cup Final.
A Day / Night final where the Kiwis won the toss and elected to bat. This seemed like a good call by the Black Caps Captain as it was a lovely sunny Melbourne afternoon and perfect for batting. Except the Aussie bowlers came out fast and accurate and with Starc taking out McCullum in the first over it was not going to be the Black Caps day.
MCG Day / Night Contrast
There were many highlights but the most memorable being Faulkner, who was man of the match, getting Taylor caught by Aussie wicket keeper Haddin just as the Kiwis were getting back into the game. Also seeing Clarke get 50 in his last match and hitting 3 fantastic fours in a row just before playing onto his stumps in the last few minutes.
The MCG has changed a lot in the 30 years and it truly is one of the worlds best stadiums. We took some time to look around which included a photo stop by the great Sir Don Bradman.
Our seats were fantastic giving us a great view over cover and also lined up with the opening and closing presentations.
A record crowd of over 93,000 capped off a great day as did the Aussie win!!!
