We dropped Molly at the airport yesterday afternoon for her return to Kuala Lumpur. She now has just on four weeks before her A-Level Exams and so will be bunkering down into her final exam preparation. The carrot is that her return ticket, late June, is via Bali, where she and her school friends are spending a week after exams and finishing school.
So for the next few months we are just down to Em and she is dreading that all our attention gets shifted to her. Which it does as we dragged her to the pictures last night and then for a bike ride this morning. But she cannot complain when in Hawthorn you have a beautiful Art Deco Cinema with the Rivoli and then a sunny Saturday morning ride along the Yarra and Hawthorn Parklands.
The Rivoli is a full night out, starting with drinks on the Roof Top Bar and then finishing after the film with Peking Duck, a little bit of indulgence. We saw the “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”. Kerrie and I loved it but I think some of the humour was too subtle for Emily – an old persons film she thought.
It was our first ride since returning to Melbourne and so we did not head far down the Yarra, really just to the end of Richmond. Kerrie was feeling the pain quite early.
What you do notice while riding is how many parks there are in Hawthorn. There are small parks tucked away in amongst the back streets and the the Bike Path along the Yarra, although busy, keeps you hidden from the busy city.
