Fisherman’s Village – Koh Samui

An afternoon at Fisherman’s Village was well spent as its streets are well-preserved being lined by old wooden Chinese shop-houses, interspaced with a few modern buildings that match the tone. It was apparently the main French outpost on the island for many years and so you can see much of this influence.

While walking along the main street I came across this bizarre elephant statutes in a little market courtyard. I especially liked the ones done up as Super Heroes as you can see with Iron Man, Batman and Captain America.

I spent most of my afternoon sitting in a place called The Lodge having a great late lunch and sipping a beer while watching people on the beach either have a massage or swim. This would be a great little place to stay if you wanted some where close to the action but not in the middle of the night club areas.
