The regular work travelling from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur has one upside being that the weekends I am back in Melbourne make me even more enthusiastic to get out and enjoy Melbourne and its two top things – Food and Footy. As an example, and catching up with my Blog, was my weekend a few weeks ago…
After seeing Emily with her Hockey Match on the Friday night it was a morning start for us on Saturday down to Camberwell for shopping. She want to look at Hiking Gear with me for her upcoming 3 weeks into Outback Australia and time to be spent in an Aboriginal Community. We took lunch at My Other Brother Cafe which was totally superb.
Em went for the Kohirabi & Teff Fritters with salted ricotta, bacon and smoked tomato relish and poached egg. While I went for Berbere Smashed Peas with bean puree, black quinoa, haloumi and poached egg on sourdough. All great combinations and paired well with great coffee!!!
Following lunch it was onto Netball and then later in the afternoon it was onto Basketball. She won both games The only argument was that we have to stop several 100 meters away from each venue so she is not embarrassed being taken to sport on the Scooter.
Saturday evening was then with Kerrie as we headed, on the Scooter, down to Richmond and a lovely Lebanese Mezza for dinner.
If the weekend was not already good enough…we then got to see Carlton defeat Port Adelaide in a last goal thriller at Etihad on Sunday. It was neck and neck with a goal in the last minute by Kruezer to put Carlton in front.
This is Melbourne at its best…cafe’s and footy!!!
