Space is a science fiction-based theme featuring astronauts and spaceships, introduced in 1978. It is one of the most expansive themes in LEGO’s history, and contains over 300 individual sets (As of January 2012, there are 362 space sets and counting).
Set # 462-1: Rocket Launcher

A Classic Space set that contains a transporter erector launcher, consisting of a tractor unit and a trailer that carries a rocket. Also included are two Classic Space astronauts (one red and one white).

A Classic Space set that contains a large spacecraft, a ground base with a landing pad and a small tower, a small space rover and four Classic Space astronauts (two red, two white).
The building of the ground base contains a control room and has a large dish antenna on the outside. The cockpit has enough room for two minifigures and can be accessed by tilting back its roof. The aft of the ship has a large cargo compartment with a loading ramp where the rover can be stored. So much fun in a 1979 set!!!

A promotional set of the Japanese confectionary company Kabaya. It contains a small Ice Planet 2002 vehicle piloted by an astronaut.
Set # 6783-1: Sonar Transmitting Cruiser

The spaceship consists of several detachable sections: The cockpit section, two lab modules in the middle, and a small drive section at the aft. One of the labs has a 9V block with Light & Sound bricks at the top.

Set # 6980-1: Galaxy Commander

A Classic Space set that contains a large spaceship, a landing pad, two ground vehicles and five Classic Space astronauts (2 white, 2 yellow, 1 red).
The spaceship consists of two separable segments. The front section with two cockpits, and the aft section that contains a detachable lab module which is held in place by two clamps. The lab module can be opened by folding the roof to the side and is equipped with a dish antenna that can be collapsed to lie flat on the roof.
Set # 7311-1: Red Planet Cruiser
Year 2001
A Life on Mars themed set containing a martian, Altair. It is a moderately small set and contained seventy-three pieces. It also appears in the video game, LEGO Racers 2, on Mars as an obstacle in some races and challenges.
